Where is Munnar?

Munnar is approx 107 km away from Cochin International airport. It’s in Kerala, India. It’s a very beautiful hill station surrounded by mountains and trees.

How to Reach Munnar?

By Air:

You can direct or connecting flights from your place to Cochin Internation Airport and then you have an option for cabs and local buses to go Munnar.

By Bus:

You can board buses for Munnar and can take a cab to your respective hotels from there.

By Train:

Train journeys have a different ambiance in itself, you can take trains from your place to the nearest railway station i.e, Aluva which is 110 km and Ernakulam which is the second nearest railway station and 130 km away from Munnar. You can board a cab, private or local buses as per your convenience and budget.

Self Drive:

Self-drive is undoubtedly the best option one can choose while traveling as you get to explore each and every path while reaching your destination, can get down at chai tapris(tea stalls) and have a sip it while being in the lap of nature. However, the cost and timing would depend on your starting place. 

Places to Explore in Munnar:

  1. Attukad Waterfalls

Waterfalls, the sound of water calms your mind to such an extent that you can feel it instantly. Attukad Waterfalls is one place to go and relax when in Munnar. It is about 2 km from Munnar.

2.Echo Point

It is located on Topway of Idukki district, surrounded by luscious green natural beauty, you just can’t miss this. Enjoy seeing various varieties of birds and rare flowers like Neelkuriunji, which blooms once in twelve years. You can shop in the local marketplace and enjoy boating too.

3.Eravikulam National Park

Your journey to this place would be totally worth it! You can cover various places while visiting here such as the KDFC flower garden, Tea Museum, Rajamala where you can spot the famous Nilgiri Tahr and much more. Enjoy the view of Atlas moth which is known to be the largest in the world, Nilgiri Langoor, Elephants and a lot more you can discover.

4. Pothamedu View Point

Pothamedu View Point, where you can explore varieties of cardamom, tea and coffee plantations. The sunrise and sunset view is mesmerizing from this viewpoint. You can also explore Idukki Arch Dam which is approx 65 km away from this place.

5. Photo Point

Photo point as per its name is famous for capturing beautiful views of the hill station. Also, you can dress up as local tea plantations workers and explore more with the local people out there. Enjoy the diverse fragrance of various tea planted out there and don’t forget to take a ride to Mattupetty Dam which is nearby.

6. Elephant Arrival Point

Explore the beauty and diversity of Elephants here, also if you want you can enjoy elephant ride here. It is approx 18 km away from the city.
